Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Edo election, has pledged to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki to liberate the state from stagnation. In a statement issued on Thursday after meeting with the Edo community in Washington DC, USA, Okpebholo outlined his vision for the state.
Okpebholo emphasized his commitment to improving security and undertaking massive infrastructural development to stimulate economic growth and attract foreign investments. He also promised to focus on providing affordable healthcare, ensuring water and food security, enhancing education, and fostering economic rejuvenation, alongside promoting tourism and the creative industry.
The Senator, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District, assured that his campaign would include the establishment of the Edo Diaspora Agency, aimed at boosting the involvement of Edo indigenes living abroad. Okpebholo acknowledged the significant contributions of the Edo diaspora to the state’s development and sought their support for his gubernatorial bid. He highlighted his ongoing efforts to advance Edo State as a citizen and a senator, underscoring his commitment to the region’s progress.
