Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have officially initiated divorce proceedings. The singer filed for divorce from her husband of two years in Los Angeles on Monday. Simultaneously, Gomez also filed his own petition for divorce.
The couple’s separation was announced on July 19, and a source stated that they had been quietly and amicably working on maintaining their friendship. Shortly after, reports emerged that Grande had started dating her Wicked costar, Ethan Slater.
Following this revelation, it was reported that Slater had filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay, whom he had married in 2018. Jay and Slater share a son, born in August 2022.
Jay expressed her feelings, stating, “My family is just collateral damage. The story is [Grande] and Dalton,” and also characterized Grande as “not a girl’s girl.”
In the upcoming Wicked films directed by Jon M. Chu, Grande takes on the role of the good witch Glinda, while Slater portrays Boq, a munchkin who Glinda rejects.
Grande and Gomez, a real estate agent, began dating in January 2020 and announced their engagement in December of the same year. They tied the knot in Montecito in 2021. According to Grande’s representative, the wedding was “tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”
