Chris Uche, SAN, the lead counsel for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced that they will appeal the unanimous judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, which upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu. Uche expressed disappointment over the ruling, stating that they had expected the court to deliver a verdict that would encourage the use of technology in elections.
He emphasized that the appeal process is not just for their client but for the constitution of the country and democracy as a whole. Uche stated that they believe the Supreme Court, as the final arbiter, will have the opportunity to review the case and their arguments.
This announcement indicates Atiku’s commitment to pursuing legal remedies in challenging the election results and advocating for electoral transparency and fairness in Nigeria.
