Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal that upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25, 2023, presidential election. Speaking at a press conference at the PDP headquarters in Abuja, Atiku stated that he refused to accept the judgment because he believed it lacked substantial justice.
He expressed his disappointment with the tribunal’s decision, emphasizing that he did not lose confidence in the judiciary. Atiku announced that he had instructed his lawyers to activate his constitutional right to appeal to the Supreme Court, continuing his legal battle to challenge the election results.
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, unanimously upheld President Tinubu’s electoral victory and dismissed the petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi challenging the election results. The tribunal ruled that the petitions lacked merit.
