Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to focus on governance instead of the 2027 elections. Atiku’s response came after Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, vowed that his principal would frustrate Atiku’s presidential bid, just as he did in 2023.
Reacting to Olayinka’s statement, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, criticized Wike for discussing future elections while President Bola Tinubu’s administration struggles to deliver on its promises. He emphasized that Atiku is more concerned with addressing national issues rather than political distractions. “The real question is whether Nigerians are better off today than they were in 2023,” Ibe stated.
