The bandit leader, Alhaji Dogo Jede, is said to have a firm grip on certain communities within the Shiroro Local Government Area, and he operates with impunity in those areas. He is known to attend local markets and religious events under the protection of his gang. The villagers, although aware of the bandit leader and his gang’s activities, are reportedly afraid to disclose information about their whereabouts due to fears of retaliation.
Furthermore, it is mentioned that the bandits’ leader and his gang receive support and contributions from the local communities for allowing them to farm and sustain their livelihoods. The villagers are said to be compelled to cooperate with the bandits for their own survival.
In addition to this, it is reported that the Boko Haram sect has allegedly hoisted their flag in a different area, Angwar Madaki, within the same local government, according to the Chairman of Shiroro local government, Akilu Isyaku Kuta. The bandits have reportedly assured the local population that their safety is guaranteed and urged them not to relocate.
This situation highlights the complex and challenging security issues faced by certain regions in Nigeria, where criminal elements and armed groups exert control over local communities, leading to concerns for the safety and well-being of the residents.
