Renowned Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, appears to be turning a new leaf, seeking reconciliation with those he may have offended over the years, AY Makun included.
In a video shared on his Instagram account on October 2, 2023, Basketmouth extended heartfelt apologies to individuals he might have hurt knowingly or unknowingly. Specifically, he addressed AY Makun, expressing his desire to be forgiven and stating that he, too, forgives AY for any past wrongdoings.
Basketmouth said, “To my guy AY I don’t know if my apology is still valid right now but if it is please forgive me for whatever I have done or said in the past that affected you in any way please forgive me. And I want you to know that I have forgiven you for whatever you did or said knowingly or unknowingly, it’s gone and I just want us to live in peace and harmony.”
In a bid to mend fences, he extended his apologies to others in the industry and beyond whom he might have offended. Basketmouth acknowledged that he neither accepted nor denied any allegations against him but urged forgiveness from the bottom of his heart.
He emphasized, “Now to all the people in the industry and beyond that I have offended over time knowingly or unknowingly I say this to you right now from the bottom of my heart I am genuinely sorry please forgive me and to the people who would have accused me of doing things that affected their career in one way or the other I’m not going to accept or deny these allegations God knows the truth but regardless please forgive me I beg you from the bottom of my heart.”
This reconciliation effort follows a decade-long feud between Basketmouth and AY, which AY once attributed to a ₦30,000 dispute. Basketmouth, however, cited loyalty issues as the root cause of their discord.
In a recent interview, AY emphasized that he was at peace with the idea of never reconciling with Basketmouth, as his previous attempts to mend the rift had been unsuccessful. As of now, AY has not responded to Basketmouth’s video.
