Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the unprovoked attack on Ukum Local Government Area of the state. The assault, carried out by suspected hoodlums, resulted in the senseless killing of numerous individuals in Akpuuna village, Mbaterem, Ukum LGA.
Governor Alia expressed deep disappointment and sorrow upon learning about the attack, emphasizing that innocent and law-abiding citizens were brutally murdered without any justifiable reason. He denounced the heinous crime as a grave sin against both God and humanity.
In response to the incident, Governor Alia has directed security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators of this unlawful act and ensure that they face the full force of the law. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for God’s comfort to be upon them during this difficult time.
Through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, the Governor assured the people of a prompt and decisive government response. He appealed for calm among residents of the Sankera axis and urged them to provide security agencies with valuable information that can aid in tackling insecurity in the area.
