Former Ondo First Lady, Betty Akeredolu, has criticized ex-Senator Florence Ita-Giwa for claiming that female senators cannot experience sexual harassment. Ita-Giwa made the statement while reacting to an allegation by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Akeredolu, in a post on X, dismissed Ita-Giwa’s claim, citing a recent case in Meta, where a former director, Sara Wynn-Williams, accused the company of misconduct, including sexual harassment. She argued that harassment can happen at any level, even in high-ranking positions like the Nigerian Senate.
She emphasized that powerful women are not immune to such experiences, pointing out that Meta allegedly tried to block Wynn-Williams’ book detailing her ordeal. According to Akeredolu, Ita-Giwa’s statement ignores reality, as harassment exists everywhere, including politics.
