U.S. President Joe Biden and House Speaker Mike Johnson have strongly condemned the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) recent arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Biden called the warrants “outrageous” and reiterated support for Israel, emphasizing that there is “no equivalence” between Israel and Hamas.
The White House also issued a statement criticizing the ICC’s actions as flawed, stating, “The United States has been clear that the ICC does not have jurisdiction over this matter.” The warrant also targets former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Speaker Johnson denounced the ICC’s actions as “antisemitic” and urged the U.S. Senate and President Biden to prevent the warrants’ enforcement. He stressed that inaction could encourage similar actions against both Israel and the U.S., calling for immediate passage of the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act to counter ICC decisions against U.S. allies.
