Boko Haram militants damage 330KVA power towers in Yobe

Borno and Yobe inhabitants are now without light after two 330 KVA power transmission towers in the state were demolished by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, according to the Yobe State Police Command.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated as much during a Saturday interview in Damaturu with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Abdulkarim, Yobe and Borno State get their electricity from Gombe through transmission towers.

He stated that it was thought that the assailants detonated the facilities early on Saturday morning using homemade explosives.

The transmission towers, which provide power from Gombe to Yobe and Borno, are situated in Kasaisa in the state’s Damaturu Local Government Area.

“People in the two states are living in complete darkness as a result of the destruction,” he said.
