Buhari’s ex-minister submits Edo governorship nomination form

Clem Agba, an All Progressives Congress candidate for governor of Edo State, presented his Expression of Interest and Nomination form to the party’s office in Abuja on Wednesday.

Agba is the former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning.

The Independent National Electoral Commission announced that the Edo governorship election will be conducted on September 21, 2024.

While speaking to press on Wednesday after meeting with certain members of the party’s National Working Committee, Agba stated, “As a leader, let me quickly stress that if you don’t check on your people and inspect what they have been ordered to do, you will be dissatisfied. What I bring to Edo is the trust factor.

“After all, Edo is the heartbeat of Nigeria and requires someone with capacity, who has worked at the national and sub national level and can fulfil the mandate of the people.”Let me also emphasize that I am completely prepared to transform both the rural and urban sectors of the state.”
More hopefuls have continued to resist the decision of the committee formed at the request of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Prof Julius Ihonvbere, which had previously reduced the list of contestants to six.
Ernest Umakhihe (Owan East LGA), Clem Agba (Etsako East LGA), Lucky Imasuen (Ovia North East LGA), Dennis Idahosa (Ovia South West LGA), David Imuse (Esan West LGA), and Monday Okpebholo (Esan Central LGA) were the six newly appointed candidates.

Other candidates for the party ticket ahead of the September governorship election include two-term governorship candidate Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former Edo State Governor Oserheimen Osunbor, ex-Edo APC Chairman Dr. David Imuse, South South Zonal Secretary Blessing Agbomhere, and veteran politicians Gideon Ikhine, Col. David Onabure, and Major General Charles Airhiavbere (retd).
