The 73-year-old founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil, along with her husband, Modupe Alakija, reportedly experienced an incident during their travels that led to a sudden spike in her blood pressure, ultimately affecting her vision.
Despite attempts to manage her condition, her eyesight continued to deteriorate until she eventually lost her sight completely.
Sources indicate that instead of pursuing extensive medical treatment, Alakija chose to focus on her faith, dedicating herself to expanding her religious ministry.
“She was on board with her husband when they had a near air mishap, which caused her blood pressure to rise and impacted her eyesight,” a source revealed.
“She had been experiencing vision problems, but rather than seeking medical treatment, she decided to start a church as a means of seeking healing.”
