Calm Anticipation: Trusting Silence Above – Part 1

How do you navigate the silence of heaven when your prayers remain unanswered, and it feels like others are experiencing divine responses?

The challenge of maintaining trust in God while hope wanes is undeniably daunting. Waiting on God, especially when it appears that nothing is unfolding there’s complete silence, can be an arduous journey. The reality of life may not align with your expectations, leaving you in a space vastly different from what you envisioned. Your envisioned best life may seem elusive, and the anticipation of family life might be overshadowed by the struggle to conceive, bringing monthly cycles of disappointment.

Dreams of entrepreneurship might be met with the unexpected challenges of the business grind. The unwavering support you anticipated from friends may transform into unexpected betrayals, making success celebrations scarce. Health issues, marital struggles, or wayward children may have taken you by surprise, placing you in the midst of an unforeseen and unsettling season. As you cry out to God, grappling with the silence from heaven, questions may arise about why such pain has entered your life and question God’s silence.

The apparent lack of divine intervention may lead to frustration and a longing for God to manifest His presence. The desire for a change in circumstances, for God to speak, extend His hand, or send angels becomes more pronounced in the face of adversity. The complexity of these silent moments raises profound questions about God’s purpose and His seemingly passive stance in the midst of trials.

1. God, Are You Listening to My Prayer?

Trusting and waiting on God can be an immense challenge. You’ve engaged in prayer, fasting, and walked by faith, shedding tears along the way. The desperate cries for help, for someone to acknowledge your struggle and assure you that you’re not alone, resonate deeply. The frustration of grappling with the seeming inaction and silence of an all-powerful God in the face of your circumstances is familiar. As you navigate through these challenging moments, attempting to hold yourself together, it’s crucial to recognize that God sees you. He has not abandoned you, and the cries of your heart are heard.

In the midst of your current situation, it’s important to understand that this is not the conclusion of your story. It’s not the final chapter. God has more in store for you, actively working in your life, and crafting a meaningful narrative. Your story is still being written, and you will experience renewal and hope once again. Philippians 1:5 NLT provides reassurance, stating, “I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Yet, the question remains, what do you do in the waiting?

Reflecting on Jesus’ example, who declared, “I have come down from heaven not to do my will but the will of him who sent me” (John 6:38), and affirmed, “I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me… I always do what pleases him” (John 8:28-29). Romans 12:1 GNT further emphasizes this concept, urging, “Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.”
