Charles Idahosa has attributed his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s actions. Idahosa, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2020, stated that he initially moved to the PDP to support Obaseki after the governor was denied a return ticket by APC leaders.
In a recent interview, Idahosa emphasized his critical role in securing Obaseki’s second-term ticket and victory in the 2020 governorship election. He expressed frustration over Obaseki’s disregard and unfair treatment of party leaders, claiming the state had seen little development over the past seven years.
Idahosa recounted his opposition to former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole and his support for Obaseki during the political turmoil. However, he criticized Obaseki for not being fair to those who stood by him, alleging that the governor falsely accused party leaders of wanting to share state funds. This perceived betrayal led Idahosa to leave the PDP.
