According to reports, the Ekiti government has taken legal action against Pastor Jeremiah, who is the pastor of Chef Dammy, on behalf of the chef, seeking damages.
Chef Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy, has initiated a lawsuit for infringement of rights against Jeremiah Adegoke and the Ekiti State Police Command at the Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti.
The Directorate of Citizens Rights (DCR) at the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice filed the lawsuit, requesting that the court prohibit Mr. Adegoke and the police from detaining Chef Dammy. Additionally, they are seeking N10 million in damages for the chef, who gained prominence for her attempt to break a Guinness World Record.
This legal action follows Chef Dammy’s reported arrest, allegedly at the behest of Mr. Adegoke, her pastor, just a week prior to the lawsuit being filed. Chef Dammy had raised concerns in October about harassment and threats from individuals she referred to as “people of God,” including her pastor, leading to a conflict between them.
While the exact nature of the dispute remains unclear, it appears to be connected to the unsuccessful cook-a-thon. The lawsuit aims to declare that the pastor’s continued harassment, molestation, threat of arrest, and intimidation, with the collaboration of Mr. Samuel and the Nigerian police, infringe on Chef Dammy’s fundamental human rights.
Furthermore, the lawsuit seeks a restraining order to prevent Chef Dammy’s arrest and demands compensation of N10 million for aggravation and damages.
