Three missing children were freed from their captors in Rivers State by agents of the Benue State Police Command.
On September 24, 2023, the parents of two of the missing children filed a report at the Makurdi police station.
Benedict Kpaakpa, who is younger than two years old, and Philomena Kpaakpa, who is six years old, were named as the missing children in a statement released by Catherine Anene, the public relations officer for the state police.
The two kids and one other were rescued from a medical doctor in Rivers State, according to Anene, who made the revelation public to media in Makurdi on Sunday.
The statement stated, in part, that two of the family’s children—Philomena Kpaakpa, age six, and Benedict Kpaakpa, age less than two—were reported missing at around 07:30 hrs. by the family of Godwin Kpaakpa of Badagry Street, which is located across from St. Peters Church Wurukum, Makurdi.
As usual, a signal was sent across the nation, and the investigation got started right away.
On 20/20/2023, the Rivers State Police Command notified us that, during an operation in the Rumuokoro region, they had saved three children from a medical doctor; these appeared to be the same youngsters that the Benue Command had previously reported.
“A group of investigators was dispatched to River State to conduct identification and take other required measures.
“Thankfully, the parents of Godsgift Julius, the other child whose identity is unknown and has not yet been revealed, were identified with the two other children.”

According to the police spokesperson, Godsgift had not yet been in contact with his family, while Philomena and Benedict had been reunited with theirs.
She stated that although efforts were being made to find his counterparts in Benue, the medical doctor was under investigation at Rivers State.
In order to prevent instances of child trafficking, Anene asked parents, guardians, teachers, and other individuals involved in the management of children to keep a closer eye on them.
