Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has expressed his dismay at the increasing number of people who reach out to him on social media begging for money.
In a video shared online, the comedic actor shared his frustrations about the messages he receives, with people pleading for various amounts of money, ranging from small to large sums.
He highlighted a couple of extreme cases, where one individual requested $35,000 and another asked for $12,000 to open a shop.
Chinedu Ikedieze stressed that he cannot continue to fulfill these requests from the public, as it puts a strain on his finances, particularly considering the current state of the country’s economy.
“I dey vex, I’m not happy. This is getting out of hands. How can you people turn my DM to bank of Industry? If I start to share the money like that, it would finish. Imagine someone was begging me for $35,000, approximately N20M”, he expressed.
The post garnered thousands of reactions from social media users, with some attributing it to the country’s economic situation, while others criticized the act of begging.
Social media user @Emmaculate96 wrote, “That is so tiring, even me way no get much I still know how many gimme gimme I encounter everytime. The country is tough but while do people assume that someone doesn’t have other responsibilities apart from giving them money. And some audacious ones are the most funny”.
