Elder statesman and former Federal Commissioner of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, has condemned the agreement allegedly dictated by the presidency between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. Clark described the agreement as a master-slave deal and urged President Bola Tinubu to listen to the governor’s side of the story before taking further action. He accused Wike of hijacking political structures in both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Clark called for Wike’s arrest and investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to explain his source of wealth.

In response, Wike thanked Tinubu for helping to ease political tension in Rivers State and dismissed claims that the president lacks constitutional power to intervene in the state’s affairs. Wike emphasized that he had not sought the president’s intervention directly and commended Tinubu for his fatherly role. He urged people not to fall for political lies and innuendoes, emphasizing the need for peace in the state and the country.
