The Coroner’s inquest into the tragic death of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has scheduled October 13, 2023, as the date for witnesses to appear and provide testimony.
The Coroner’s proceedings were held on Friday at the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, as reported by BBC Pidgin. Funmi Falana, who represented Mohbad’s family, alongside other legal representatives, conducted closed-door proceedings to discuss the arrangements for the presentation of evidence.
In a statement to journalists following the proceedings, Falana explained, “What we did today was to decide how and when the procedures would help get justice. The date has been fixed, and we will be bringing our witnesses.”
She also reassured the late singer’s family and fans that justice would prevail, saying, “We are representing the interest of justice; we should allow peace to reign, but justice must be served. We are going to get to the cause of the death.”
This development comes shortly after the Lagos State Police Command arrested the controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed this development in a late Thursday night telephone interview, stating, “Yes, Balogun Eletu aka Sam Larry is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation.”
It was previously reported that the police had invited both Sam Larry and the singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, for questioning concerning the demise of Mohbad.
