Saviour Daniel and David Isaiah were placed under remand in an Ado-Ekiti correctional institution on Wednesday by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court due to accusations of murder.
The defendants are on trial for alleged conspiracy and murder; their addresses were withheld.
Inspector Olubu Apata, the prosecution, informed the court that the offenses were committed in Ado-Ekiti on February 4.
He said that Comfort James, a potential commercial sex worker, was killed by the defendants.
According to Apata, the accused met the dead at a brothel.
After some haggling, she went to their residence with them. She then asked for her money, but they wouldn’t give it to her. She was killed by being strangled and having insecticides poured into her mouth, he claimed.
He claims that the offenses violate Ekiti State’s 2021 Criminal Laws, Sections 244 and 234.
In order to obtain legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecution’s office, the prosecution asked the court to remand the defendants to a detention facility.
The defendants’ pleas were not accepted.
Mrs. Kehinde Awosika, the Chief Magistrate, ruled that the defendants be placed under detention in a prison until legal counsel could be obtained.
