Court Detains 6 Robbers In Ekiti

Six people have been ordered to remain in custody for conspiracy, cultism, and robbery by a magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Olanipekun Daniel, 28, Adamolekun Olalekan, 24, Ogundare Tobi, 27, Ojo Alaba, 51, Daramola Tope, 32, and Adewumi Gboyega, 29, were charged with robbing N4 million from the Office of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State in violation of Sections 421, 344(d), 312(2)(a), and 41 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He informed the court that the victim, Oreoba Ayodele, said in his statement to the police that the office driver had driven him to the bank so he could cash N4 million.

The following is an excerpt from Ayodele’s testimony to the police: “On our way back, we were attacked by some armed masked robbers. I leaped from the automobile and took off running. I was wounded in the arm by one of them, which caused me to collapse, and they took the money from me. As they sped off, they began firing into the air. Later, sympathizers drove me to the hospital.
