Court remands Ondo tailor for stealing pot of soup

Adua Fatogun, a 19-year-old tailor, has been remanded by an Ondo State Magistrate Court for stealing a pot of soup and other articles valued at N311,100.

The suspect was reported to have committed the crime on October 12, 2023, around 9 a.m., at Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi, Ondo town.
Fatogun was accused of stealing the property of Felix Ogunbolade, Adeqoga Aboodun, and Akinsete Adurayemi.
Fatogun pled not guilty to the four counts of burglary and theft.
The police prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, stated that the offenses violated Section 383 and were punishable under Sections 412(1) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State.

He asked the court to delay the matter so he could prepare witnesses for trial.

The presiding magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin, remanded the defendant to prison detention and scheduled the hearing to February 19, 2024, for trial.
