CSOs Dismiss Natasha’s Allegation, Call for Apology

The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has dismissed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, labeling them as “cheap blackmail.” In a statement issued in Abuja, Executive Director Lary Onah urged Akpabio to remain focused on legislative duties despite what he described as an attempt to undermine democracy and evade Senate sanctions.

Onah defended Akpabio’s leadership, calling him a champion of gender inclusion and professionalism in governance. He emphasized that the Senate President had already denied the allegations and continued to enjoy the confidence of lawmakers and Nigerians. The CSOs also passed a vote of confidence on Akpabio, praising his ability to navigate complex legislative challenges.

The group further demanded that Natasha apologize and withdraw her petition, arguing that the accusations were merely a ploy to manipulate Senate leadership. They also commended Akpabio’s composure during the Senate altercation, insisting that Natasha had violated Senate rules over seating arrangements.
