Daniel Regha Questions Davido’s ‘Yearly Contribution to the Nation’ Amidst Announcement
Nigerian singer Davido has come under scrutiny from online personality Daniel Regha following the singer’s announcement of a substantial N300 million donation to orphanage homes in the country.

Davido, earlier today, revealed his foundation’s plan to disburse the sum of N300 million to orphanage homes, framing it as his “yearly contribution to the nation.” The disbursement is slated to commence on February 21, 2024.
However, Daniel Regha has taken issue with the announcement, characterizing it as flawed and raising concerns about the accountability of Davido’s philanthropic efforts. In a social media post, Regha specifically referenced a previous sum of N250 million, claiming it wasn’t “well accounted for.”
The criticism from Daniel Regha adds a layer of scrutiny to Davido’s charitable initiative, prompting discussions among netizens about transparency in celebrity philanthropy and the need for clear financial reporting.
As Davido’s planned disbursement date approaches, it remains to be seen whether he will address these concerns or if the controversy will escalate further in the online sphere.
He wrote: “I and my foundation pledge the sum of ‘300 million Naira’ to orphanages around Nigeria… as my ‘yearly contribution to the Nation’ ❤️ .. details of ‘disbursement’ tomorrow.”
Not long after, Daniel Regha took to his page to ‘flaw’ the move of the singer while accusing him of being biased.
He asked that he ‘call out leaders in the country who are not living up to their role as elected representatives’ and also use his platforms as the ‘people’s voice’ to seek good leadership.
He wrote: “Helping out the needy financially is good, but that alone shouldn’t be anyone’s ‘yearly contribution to the nation.”
“The likes of Davido need to engage in political discussions; he’s a Nigerian and should do it without being biased. Celebs should speak up for the masses by calling out our leaders; they should put their influence to good use.”
Daniel Regha went on to add that Davido had in the past donated some ‘millions’ to orphanage homes but it was not well accounted for and is also yet to fulfill the alleged ‘pledge’ of a ’20 million Naira’ giveaway to fans.
His statement: “The last ‘250 million Naira’ Davido supposedly donated to an orphanage was not well accounted for; he’s also yet to fulfill the ’20 million Naira’ pledge he made in the form of a giveaway.”
“The same Davido has been accused of owing/seizing people’s money (like that of Amaju Pinnick), but he wants to donate ‘300 million Naira’ to orphanages around Nigeria? And y’all wonder why Nigerian politicians can get away with almost anything in this country.”
