Nigerian acclaimed artist, David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, has expressed his determination to step away from the music industry before his career takes a downturn.
Davido’s announcement was shared via an Instagram video posted by entertainment blogger Tunde Ednut. In the video, he conveyed that his most significant apprehension in life is the potential decline of his music career.
The artist behind hits like ‘Unavailable’ revealed his genuine unease about the future phase of his career, when the frenzy around his performances might dwindle and the once fervent audience response might diminish.
Acknowledging the universal phenomenon of careers undergoing transitions, Davido confessed that he is committed to avoiding that stage in his own journey. He often jokes with his friends that he will retire from music before he experiences any decline.
His sentiments were expressed as follows: “The only thing I’m really scared of is that moment maybe…when I get on stage, people cry, they go crazy.
“But it’s going to get to a point in my career where it’s going to start slowing down, everybody goes through it, so that’s what I’m really scared of, that point.”
He further added, “I have a recurring jest with my companions that I’ll retire from the scene before I lose my charm.”
