The renowned Afrobeat sensation, Davido Adeleke, expressed his admiration for the remarkable achievement of his fellow artist, Rema, in the United States.
During a recent interview on the popular UAE music program, The Kris Fade Show, the artist known affectionately as O.B.O by his fans, expressed his astonishment at the continued success of Rema’s track “Calm Down” on the U.S. charts.
Davido remarked that he could hardly believe how Afrobeat had gained international prominence and expressed his pride in seeing artists like Rema thriving on the global stage.
“Years ago, I never thought a Nigerian artiste would have a Top 5 record in America. Rema has had Top 5 records in America for the past eight months, non-shaken,” he exclaimed.
It’s worth noting that Rema’s “Calm Down” and its remix featuring Selena Gomez recently achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Nigerian song to spend an entire year on the U.S. Billboard charts.
