In a recent statement, former presidential aspirant Dele Momodu clarified his position regarding his support for President Bola Tinubu. Momodu asserted that he had not promised President Tinubu his unwavering support in exchange for the £500 provided to him during his exile days. He made these remarks in response to various versions of his past interview where he was alleged to have pledged continued support to Tinubu.
In a post shared on his social media platform, Momodu, who previously granted the interview to Chude Jideonwo, addressed the ongoing circulation of this interview by what he referred to as “APC goons.” He emphasized that the £500 support from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during their exile years was well appreciated but did not bind him to perpetual loyalty.
He explained that he had repaid the favor extended by President Tinubu in numerous ways, most notably through providing free and regular publicity on Ovation platforms, which amounted to thousands of dollars. Momodu characterized this as “adding value.”
Momodu’s statement clarified that he never stated he would provide unconditional support to Tinubu and shared the full video of the interview for further context.
