Delta Police to Prosecute 67 Suspected Gay Individuals

The 67 individuals apprehended in Delta State on suspicion of engaging in same-sex activities are set to face legal proceedings next week, according to DSP Bright Edafe, the State Police Public Relations Officer.

In an exclusive conversation with City Round on Friday, Edafe revealed that ongoing investigations are diligently evaluating the level of involvement of each suspect before they are formally charged. All the suspects and pertinent evidence are securely held in police custody.

Remarkably, the arrested individuals have been cooperating with the police during the course of the investigation, which is progressing smoothly.

Earlier this week, the Delta State Police Command made headlines when it paraded a total of 67 individuals arrested for their alleged involvement in homosexuality. The arrests took place during an all-night wedding reception held at a prominent hotel located off Refinery Road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

During the announcement, the State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, delivered a stern warning to parents, urging them to closely monitor the associations their children are involved in. Speaking through the PPRO, Edafe, he vigorously condemned homosexuality in the state and disclosed that the suspects were apprehended at the hotel where it was suspected that a same-sex marriage ceremony was taking place.
