According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the armed forces have successfully dealt with 31 terrorists and captured 81 others in different operations across the North East, North Central, and North West regions. Additionally, 10 kidnapped hostages were rescued, and a total of 63 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their families surrendered to the troops.
The troops of Operation HADIN KAI carried out combat patrols in Bama and Chibok Local Government Areas of Borno State, as well as Gujba LGA in Yobe State, according to Buba. Additionally, the troops successfully retrieved 12 AK47 rifles, two homemade rifles, three Dane guns, 181 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, four magazines, and three motorcycles, along with other items. Buba further mentioned that the troops eliminated 13 terrorists, apprehended 12 individuals involved in terrorism, and rescued five kidnapped individuals.
The troops of Operation Whirl Stroke arrested two individuals associated with IPOB/ESN in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue during a patrol. The arrest took place at the residence of a prominent herbalist, who managed to escape. As part of the operation, the troops also recovered a body armor and bulletproof vests.
He further expressed that the military and citizens work together as allies to fight against shared adversaries, namely terrorists and violent extremist organizations. He further emphasized that the military’s ongoing operations aim to overcome the impact of insurgency and terrorism, with the ultimate objective of safeguarding the nation from those responsible for causing insecurity, thus promoting national development.
