Donald Duke Urges Tinubu to Rethink Economic Policies

Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to revisit some of his economic policies, emphasizing the need to prioritize the welfare of the people. Speaking on Channels Television’s Inside Sources, Duke criticized the simultaneous removal of petrol and electricity subsidies, describing it as a “fundamental error.”

Duke stressed that the government should focus on making the economy work for its citizens. He pointed out that reducing energy costs would boost productivity and help the economy grow. Duke also highlighted key factors driving inflation in Nigeria, including high energy costs, over-inflated contracts, and a heavy reliance on imports.

The former governor urged leaders to leverage Nigeria’s large population to build a more productive and self-sufficient economy, rather than relying on imports that harm the country’s financial stability.
