Popular Nigerian singer Portable has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over serious allegations including criminal defamation, threats to life, and incitement. He was picked up in Abeokuta, Ogun State, after a petition was filed by Mr. Okunola Saheed, also known as “Osupa.” The police said his actions could cause a public disturbance and included the use of abusive words.
A court in Ilorin issued a warrant for his arrest, and police officers traveled to Abeokuta where they arrested Portable on Saturday evening. He was taken to Ilorin for questioning, where both his lawyers and the complainant’s lawyers were present during his statement.
The police have confirmed that he remains in custody and will be charged in court soon. They urged the public to stay calm and avoid spreading rumors while promising to provide updates as the case progresses.
