Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has asked residents to fast and pray extra on Monday in order to ask God to intervene in the state’s current inflation-related suffering.
In his address to the state’s populace, Zulum urged clerics, traditional leaders, and everyday people to conduct a voluntary one-day fast on Monday in support of the state’s growth, peace, and prosperity, according to NAN.
“The recent struggles that our citizens have faced, especially the high cost of food items, deeply trouble me.”I want to reassure you that we are taking firm action to address this problem because I recognize the strain it puts on families and individuals.
“The goal of our government’s efforts to revive the state’s agriculture is to produce more food and lessen our dependency on food palliatives.
The governor also conveyed his gratitude to volunteers and the security forces for their selfless efforts in preserving lives around the state and fostering social harmony, which is essential to growth and success.
He said that his administration was actively collaborating with stakeholders, especially those involved in the sale of necessities such as building materials and all varieties of cereals, and that it had made significant measures to reduce the escalating prices of these goods.
