“Edo Deputy Governor Withdraws Lawsuit Against Obaseki”

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has withdrawn the lawsuit he filed at the Federal High Court aimed at stopping alleged efforts by Governor Godwin Obaseki to remove him from office. The lawsuit, with Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1027/2023, listed the Inspector General of Police, State Security Service, the Governor of Edo State, and the Chief Judge of Edo State as defendants.

Shaibu stated that his decision to withdraw the lawsuit was the result of meetings involving himself, Governor Obaseki, and other well-intentioned citizens from Edo and across Nigeria. He expressed profound respect for the counsel and advice he received from various leaders, party members, traditional rulers, and Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Akubeze.

Shaibu also thanked Governor Obaseki for choosing the path of peace. This development comes amid reports of a political rift between the deputy governor and the governor in Edo State.
