Women in Edo State have demanded a public apology from former APC National Chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Dr. Betsy Obaseki, the wife of Governor Godwin Obaseki. The remarks, in which Oshiomhole reportedly referred to Dr. Obaseki as childless, have sparked outrage among the women, who staged a protest in Benin on Thursday.
Led by the Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Maria Edeko, the protesters condemned Oshiomhole’s statements as offensive and disrespectful, particularly toward women facing fertility challenges. They called for Oshiomhole to retract his comments and issue a formal apology to the Obaseki family, stressing that childlessness should never be used as a weapon in political discourse.
