Veteran Nigerian musician Eedris Abdulkareem has publicly criticized Pastor E.A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), for his perceived silence on the current economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a viral video on social media, Abdulkareem called on Adeboye to denounce the current government just as he did during Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency.
Abdulkareem recalled how Adeboye organized a one million-man march against Jonathan’s administration and accused the cleric of hypocrisy for not taking similar action now. “During Goodluck Jonathan, your voice was so loud. You even vowed to stage a one million-man march. Hunger and hardship under Tinubu’s government you say Nigeria has a spiritual problem. Baba, we need your one million disciples to protest against President Tinubu’s government just the way you protested against President Jonathan,” Abdulkareem stated.
Earlier this month, Pastor Adeboye addressed the ongoing economic challenges during a service at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute-Metta, urging Nigerians to call on God for help. Acknowledging the difficulties faced by many, he assured his congregation that Jehovah El-Shaddai would provide for their needs. “If you need provision, if things are hard… call on the one whose name is Jehovah El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough,” Adeboye said, encouraging members to seek divine intervention amidst the crisis.
