The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced a significant achievement in its anti-corruption efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. From May 29, 2023, to May 29, 2024, the EFCC secured 3,175 convictions and recovered over N156 billion. Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede shared these results at the launch of the Zero Tolerance Club at the University of Abuja.
Despite these successes, Olukoyede expressed concern over the rise in internet fraud among youths, urging students to avoid such activities and highlighting the lifelong consequences of fraud convictions. He emphasized that fraud is not a mark of creativity or intelligence, urging students to use their talents positively.
The EFCC’s Public Affairs Director, Wilson Uwujaren, and the University of Abuja’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, stressed the importance of fighting corruption and encouraged students to focus on productive and honorable pursuits. The Zero Tolerance Club aims to engage and educate future leaders on the importance of integrity and anti-corruption values.
