The Ekiti State government, under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has secured over $200 million from the World Bank to drive comprehensive economic development. Country Director Dr. Ndiame Diop announced that $60 million has already been allocated to critical projects. These projects emphasize collaboration among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to ensure successful implementation.
Governor Oyebanji, speaking at a strategic gathering with development agencies, emphasized the importance of partnerships with local and international organizations to achieve economic growth. He highlighted Ekiti’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and reforms, positioning the state as an attractive investment destination. The governor outlined the state’s progress in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and education, aiming to leverage resources for further development.
He also pointed to efforts to improve the business environment, including establishing a small claims court, simplifying business permits, and enhancing safety measures. Oyebanji announced that the Ado Ekiti airport is set to begin commercial operations by the end of 2024, boosting the state’s accessibility. The event saw international organizations reaffirming their commitment to Ekiti’s development.
