“Ekpa Urges Oil Companies to Respect Sit-at-Home Order”

Simon Ekpa, self-proclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has issued a warning to oil-producing companies operating in the South-East of Nigeria, cautioning them against ignoring the Monday sit-at-home order.

In a video shared on his social media handle, Ekpa urged these companies not to believe false information suggesting that the sit-at-home order has been called off. He emphasized that only the Biafran government in exile has the authority to make such a decision, and until their demands are met, the sit-at-home directive will remain in effect.

Ekpa clarified that the demands include the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, and other conditions for the autonomy of Biafran territories. He warned that should any oil company choose to operate despite the order, they will face serious consequences. He indicated that their objective is to disrupt oil production to hinder the Nigerian government’s financial capabilities in purchasing arms and jets for military operations.

He asserted that the Biafran government has not rescinded the sit-at-home directive, and he urged all oil-producing companies to shut down their operations on Mondays until the stated demands are met.
