Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has expressed disappointment with the current state of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party has strayed from its founding mission. Speaking at a national conference in Abuja, he confessed that he no longer recognizes the APC, citing the lack of internal meetings and coordination. El-Rufai described the party as a “zero-man show,” further distancing himself from the leadership.
El-Rufai called on Nigerians to reject incompetent leaders, emphasizing the harm caused by illiteracy and manipulation in leadership. He reflected on the unresolved issues that led to the creation of APC, suggesting that the party is no longer committed to addressing them. Though not officially leaving the party, he made it clear that the gap between him and the APC continues to widen.
Turning his attention to opposition parties, El-Rufai highlighted the external forces destabilizing the PDP and Labour Party. He quoted Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who expressed concern over the party’s internal crisis. El-Rufai warned against efforts to undermine democracy and cautioned against the possibility of military rule if the situation is not addressed.
