Enugu State has taken a strong stand against criminal activities by prohibiting the unauthorized use of vehicles with tinted glasses. The move comes as a decisive response to combat kidnappings and other crimes in the state. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, confirmed this initiative.
In a statement, Onyia explained that the ban aims to bolster security and safety for the people of Enugu. The prohibition will be effective four weeks from the announcement, with enforcement starting on September 4. Vehicles with tinted glasses, lacking Police Tinted Permits issued before the Nigeria Police Force suspended such permits on June 7, 2021, will need to remove or replace the tinting to comply with the law.
To ensure adherence, an enforcement task force will impound non-compliant vehicles. The vehicles will only be released upon removing or replacing the tinted glass and paying specified fines. The primary goal of this ban is to deter criminal activities and enhance the overall security and safety of Enugu State’s residents.
The Enugu State Government appeals for public understanding and cooperation in support of this crucial security measure.
