A seven-member investigating committee has been established by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah to look into the operations of the state College of Education (Technical).
The governor’s media office released a statement on Friday outlining the committee’s mandate, which includes looking into serious claims of mismanagement and dishonest administrative procedures in the institute’s and its Governing Council’s management.
Investigating the purported scam involving Bluetag Technologies, a financial company hired to collect fees for the college with outstanding debts totaling more than N84 million, is another task assigned to members.
The report’s additional mandate is to “evaluate the validity of the purportedly unfair hiring procedure and investigate the consequent rise in the college’s monthly grant; and make recommendations based on their findings regarding the proper actions and measures to address the issues raised in a petition to the government.”
According to the announcement, the committee was officially inaugurated at Government House on Thursday by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, who was representing the governor.
Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, Commissioner for Education, is the chairman of the committee. Members include Prof. Obiamaka Egbo, Reverend Father Ikechukwu Ani, Dr. Emma Onyeabor, Edmund Ngene, and Larry Oguego. Onuora Okeke serves as secretary.
They were exhorted to perform with credibility and offer pertinent advice.
