Enugu Police Fatally Shoot Three IPOB/ESN Members Plotting Sit-At-Home Enforcement.

A combined security force in Enugu State, Nigeria, has reportedly killed three members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), an affiliate of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). The security operation was carried out in response to intelligence indicating that the ESN members were planning to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order in the state.

During the operation, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, the security forces, composed of police operatives from the Enugu State Command, NPF Special Forces, and troops from the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu, engaged in a gunfight with the ESN members. Three ESN members were neutralized in the exchange of fire, while several others managed to escape, some with gunshot wounds.

The security forces also seized three pump-action guns, ten machetes, and other incriminating evidence from the ESN hideout in Ezioha Mgbowo, Awgu Local Government Area.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the joint security team for their actions and assured the public of their safety as they carry out their lawful activities in the state. He emphasized the commitment of the police and other security agencies to continue the fight against violent criminals operating under any guise. An intense manhunt is ongoing to locate and apprehend the ESN members who escaped the operation.
