Four former coordinators of the dissolved Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council have accused Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu of discriminatory practices in the power sector. In a joint statement issued in Abuja, the APC chieftains—Abubakar Mohammed, Bridget Eyimo, Bukie Okangbe, and Sultan Abdulazeez—criticized the categorization of electricity into bands, arguing it negatively impacts small businesses and household comfort.
The group emphasized that electricity is crucial to the economic wellbeing of many Nigerians, particularly in the informal sector. They argued that the band system results in increased production costs and higher prices for goods, calling on the minister to abolish this discriminatory practice to alleviate the burden on citizens.
Despite their criticism, the former campaign directors praised President Bola Tinubu for implementing reforms expected to benefit the economy in the long run. They also urged underperforming ministers to improve or risk being removed from office.
