Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has proposed solutions for federal and state governments to fund the minimum wage. Despite ongoing negotiations, with labor demanding N250,000 and the government offering N62,000, no agreement has been reached.
Falana, speaking on Channels TV, emphasized that governments could afford the new minimum wage if they recovered looted funds. He urged authorities to demonstrate political will and utilize these resources to meet the wage demands.
With the National Assembly on holiday until July 2, the proposed minimum wage remains pending. Falana’s suggestion offers a potential pathway for resolving the financial impasse and ensuring fair compensation for workers.
