Nigerian rapper Falz has spoken out about the defamation case he filed against social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM). The dispute arose after VDM made claims that Falz and his father, prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), assisted crossdresser Bobrisky in dropping money laundering charges. Falz shared his side of the story during a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast.
Falz recounted his initial efforts to resolve the matter amicably, but VDM reacted defensively. “This guy was instantly defensive from the beginning. I tried to reason with him, but he told me straight up, ‘Shebi you’re a lawyer; go to court,’” Falz recalled. The rapper added that although he could have pursued criminal defamation charges, he chose not to, only requesting VDM take down the false content and apologize—requests that were ignored.

Expressing his frustration, Falz emphasized the disrespect shown towards his father, Femi Falana, who is known for defending the oppressed. “He disrespected everything my father stands for. You want to find trouble? Well, trouble is my work,” Falz stated passionately. He made it clear that he would not tolerate such false accusations and intends to pursue justice.
