Three individuals have been taken into custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps’ Ondo State Command on suspicion of engaging in illegal activities within the state.
One of the suspects, Abraham Achibong, was named in a statement by the command’s public relations officer, Mr. Aidamenbor Daniel, who was seen on Friday. He was charged with defiling his eight-year-old daughter.
Agu Matthew and Ojo Oluwasola were the other suspects.
The suspects were paraded at the command’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital, by Mr. Ibiloye Oluyemi, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, according to the statement.
According to reports, Achibong was detained in the state’s Ile-oluji Oke Igbo Local Government Area on suspicion of having sex with his daughter.
Oluyemi further stated that rape, molestation, and incest charges would be brought against the suspect, who had subsequently admitted to the incident.
“Mr. Abraham Achibong, 40, a farmer, was arrested for molesting his own daughter, who is now 14 years old, since she was eight years old,” the commandant stated. This had continued for six years until the girl (name withheld) found the strength a few days ago to confide in her teacher during a visit by Ondo State Primary Health Care officers as part of a program to raise awareness of the human papillomavirus vaccine in her school.
The commandant announced that Oluwasola and Matthew, the other two suspects, had been taken into custody on charges of fraud and theft, respectively.
“One Mr. Mba Daniel was defrauded of N5.94 million by a professional con artist named Matthew who pretended to be the governor of Enugu State’s protocol officer.” A well-known Enugu resident purchased the complainant’s tract of land, and payment was assured.
“After the news of the compensation went viral, the suspect approached the complainant in his capacity as the governor’s protocol officer and told him that a N9 million check for his compensation had been released, but that some civil servants needed to be settled before the check could be cashed,” the complaint stated.
The suspect was located and taken into custody on May 16, 2024, in Enugu. On May 20, 2024, at around 11 a.m., in the Ifeoluwa community, Shagari village, Akure, a 28-year-old guy named Oluwasola made an attempt to steal a car from within the community. The NSCDC commandant continued, “He was captured by the community and turned over for profiling and investigation.
