Former House of Reps Minority Leader, Farouk Aliyu, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is already the chosen presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections. Speaking on Channels TV, Aliyu said there’s no confusion in the party — Tinubu is the man they will support again.
Farouk Aliyu also spoke about the recent defection of ex-Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He reminded Nigerians that El-Rufai had played a big role in helping Tinubu win the 2023 election by rallying northern governors to back him.
However, he hinted that El-Rufai may have left the party after missing out on a ministerial appointment. “He stood by Tinubu, fought for him, but something happened, and he didn’t get what he expected,” Aliyu said.
