Fatal Clash Between Oyo Security Agents and Herders

A clash between security operatives, including Operation Burst, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Amotekun, Soludero, and a group of Fulani herdsmen in Apalokun village, Oyo State, has led to fears of multiple casualties. The conflict reportedly began when a group of Fulani herdsmen invaded a farm in the community and grazed their cattle, resulting in an argument that led to the death of the farm owner. The clash escalated, with crops worth thousands of naira being destroyed.

The incident, which occurred on October 14, has left the entire community in a state of panic. Security agencies, including Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun, and Soludero, were called in to restore peace in the area, but they were reportedly ambushed by the Fulani herdsmen, leading to multiple casualties and injuries.

The situation is currently under investigation by various security agencies in the state, and meetings have taken place with relevant stakeholders, including representatives of the Fulani and community leaders. There is a call for a permanent solution to address the ongoing violence in the region. As of the time of the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer had not responded to inquiries about the crisis.
