The Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos was told on Monday by a police prosecution witness inspector named Glory Eyo how a father named Abdullah Abiodun allegedly violated his 12-year-old daughter.
Eyo testified before the court, accompanied by Olushola Sholeye, the state prosecutor, that her father had defiled the minor in the Badagry region of the state.
The witness further stated to Justice Abiola Soladoye that Usman, the defendant’s younger brother, saw his father in the act and alerted the authorities.
According to her statement, “Abiodun was at home with his younger brother, his victim’s daughter, and a visitor who came to visit.”
Usman’s father pursued him after the guest departed, and the defendant ordered him to leave the house. Abiodun took off his daughter’s pants, grabbed her neck, and attempted to put his penis in her intimate area after he departed. While carrying out the task, the girl let out a scream. After hearing the commotion, her brother went inside and discovered his father lying on top of his sister.
The victim fled and told their neighbor that her father was attempting to have sex with her after the defendant attempted to drive Usman away.
She claimed, “The neighbor then reported the case to the Baale, before it was reported to the Badagry Division of the Lagos State Police.”
As a result, the trial was postponed to December 16, 2023, by Judge Abiola Soladoye.
On June 3, 2021, the defendant was arraigned on a count of unlawful defilement of a minor, which was the state’s preferred charge against him.
He was accused of committing the crime at their home in the state’s Badagry region.
The prosecution claims that the offense violates Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
